Welcome to the Matching Requests/Assignment Claiming Post for the 2014 Tachibana Makoto Birthday Fanworks Exchange!

Matching Requests for 2014 are now closed.

This is Step 2 of the sign up process and will run from September 21 - 28. The deadline to make assignment requests is September 28 at noon PT (countdown clock) .

HOW MATCHING REQUESTS/ASSIGNMENT CLAIMING WORKS

We're using an "assignment claiming" style of matching for this exchange.

All of the requests are now visible on AO3. Please use
this link to view them.

Using the Matching Form (see below), please list assignments you prefer to take as well as ones you do not wish to take. While I can't guarantee your first choice, I will do my absolute best to give you something from your "prefer" list and promise not to give you anything from your "do not wish" list will contact you to work something out if I can't.

"PREFER TO TAKE"
  • Please browse through the requests and decide which ones you're interested in, then list them by the participant's name in the "Prefer To Take" section of the matching form.
  • All prompts by the same participant are considered to be a single assignment. However, you only have to do one prompt to fulfill the assignment—so you only need to like one of a participant's prompts to list them in this section.
  • There is a minimum of 10 choices for this section and no maximum. That means you must list at least 10 different participant names on the form under "Prefer To Take."
  • It will benefit both you and the matching coordinator to list as many names as possible here.
    • If you wish, you can divide your list into tiers or categories of "most preferred," "next preferred," etc.; or "want to do," "able to do," etc. (or however you want to put it).
  • Ranked lists are welcome and definitely be taken into account, although I can't guarantee you'll get your first choice.
  • If you're willing to take any assignment, please indicate "All" here. (So much love for you if you do this, because you guys are the ones who make matching really work; but please don't say "all" unless you mean it because we really do want everyone to get an assignment they like!)
"DO NOT WISH TO TAKE"
  • You should also decide which assignments you definitely don't want to do, up to a maximum of 15.
  • If you're willing to do any of them, please indicate "None" here.
  • You do not need to use up a "Do Not Wish" slot on your own prompts; I already have the matching grid set up so it's impossible to assign anyone to themselves. :D
  • All comments to this post are screened, so don't worry about offending anyone by listing them under the "do not wish to take" section.

REVISION TO MATCHING REQUESTS PROCESS:

  • Please list the participants for whom you can do at least one prompt.
    • You can make separate categories for “most preferred” and “next preferred”, or “want to do” and “able to do” (or however you want to divide it).

That’s it. Don’t tell me what you can’t do, only tell me what you can.

If you don’t have a match from your “can” list, I’ll contact you to work something out. :D

If you’ve already sent in your matching requests, everything is fine and you do not need to resubmit: I’ll just ignore the “do not wish” list and only go off your “prefer to take” list.

MATCHING REQUESTS MINI-FAQ

1. Do I have to do this part?

Yes, this is an official part of the sign up. If you don't complete this step, we don't have any way of knowing what you would and would not be willing to do, so unfortunately we will have to drop you from the exchange.

2. For the list of prompts we want to take (the “prefer to take” list), is it possible to state a preference level with them?  For instance, a list of prompts we especially want to do and a second list of prompts we would still be interested in taking but not as interested as the first group?

Yes! You can divide your list into “most preferred” and “next preferred” tiers, with a list within each tier; the combined total just has to meet or exceed the minimum number.

Whether or not you choose to use tiers, you can also rank-order your list (with your first choice at the front/top of the list).

3. Can I just tell you what I do and don’t like in general?

Short answer: No. Please do not do this.

Long answer: Well, that would have been one way to go—but it would have relied on some mindreading and guesswork on my part. I thought it would give a happier outcome if everyone got to see the exact, specific prompts and make decisions based on the details, since I’m pretty sure you all know yourselves better than I do. :D

To that end, please list participant names in your reply; please do not make generalizations of the kinds of things you do or don’t like. (Experience tells me we’ll all be happier this way; in the past, I’ve done what I thought was a perfect match based on the info and generalizations, only to have the participant drop out because they hated the assignment. orz)

4. Am I guaranteed my top choice or something from my "Prefer To Take" list?

I will do the best I can to give you something off your "prefer" list. If I can't, I will contact you through AO3 to work something out. I've never had to do this but, just in case, I don't want to make promises I may not be able to deliver on. Your understanding is greatly appreciated!

5. I don't understand what to do.

Ah, very sorry about that! Just
shoot me an email and I'll walk you through it.

Additional questions are being answered and clarifications are being made
here as they come up.

Thanks, everyone! Have fun looking through our awesome prompts. :D
